SINOPSIS / SYNOPSIS

ESPAÑOL

A pesar de su avanzada edad, Domingo afronta cada mañana la rutina de buscar un trabajo. Una noche recibe una llamada con una singular oferta de empleo; en un tiempo límite, el curtido operario aprende a manejar “la máquina de amaneceres” y a realizar con credulidad una asombrosa tarea: la de hacer salir el sol. Sin embargo, al volver a casa, Domingo echará de menos a su mujer, Lupita. Al fin y al cabo, si él puede amanecer el sol, ¿no podrá también traer de vuelta a su Lupita?

ENGLISH

In spite of his advanced age, Domingo faces each morning looking for a job. One particular night he gets a call for a unique position; at the eleventh hour, the veteran mechanic has to learn how to handle the “daybreak machine” and gullibly perform an astonishing task: to make the sun rise. However, upon returning home, Domingo is missing his wife, Lupita. At the end of the day, if he can dawn the sun, can he not also bring his Lupita back?

Juanma Romero Gárriz

ESPAÑOL

Dramaturgo, guionista y director, crea en el año 2003 la Cía. Vuelta de Tuerca, para la que ha escrito y dirigido obras como Báthory contra la 613 (Accésit del Premio Fray Luis de León 2006) y Prisionero en mayo (Mejor Dirección en el Indiefestival 2014). También ha adaptado y dirigido textos de Dostoievski (Misa negra), Kafka (Residual) y Caryl Churchill (Esto es una silla). Como dramaturgo, participa en los laboratorios ETC de la Sala Cuarta Pared con los textos Aquí hay una mano (2013) y Árbol adentro (2014). Como guionista, cabe destacar su colaboración en los largometrajes Evelyn (Isabel de Ocampo), Amarás sobre todas las cosas (Chema de la Peña) y Mindscape (Jorge Dorado). Su filmografía como director la componen los cortometrajes Durandal (2013) y Domingo, el Amanecedor (2015).

Playwrighter, screenwriter and director, in 2003 he founded the theatre company Vuelta de Tuerca, and he has written and directed plays such as Báthory against 613 (2006 Fray Luis de León 2nd Prize) and Prisoner in May (published in 2012’s compilation XXI century’s Spanish Theatre Collection: Acts of globalization). He also adapted and directed Dostoevsky’s (Black Mass), Kafka’s (Residual) and Caryl Churchill’s (This is a Chair) works. As a playwrighter, he has participated in Sala Cuarta Pared’s ETC Laboratories with the plays Here is One Hand (2013) and Into the Tree (2014), the latter being selected in the 3rd edition of the collection Theater Author Express of SGAE Foundation. His filmography include “Durandal” (2013) and “Domingo, the Daybreaker” (2015) short films.
