SINOPSIS /SYNOPSIS

ESPAÑOL

Por la flor de la canela nos invita a realizar un recorrido por las canciones de la violencia sexista desde la Edad Media al siglo XXI, a la vez que nos pone en alerta, porque muchas veces  cantamos canciones que sólo hemos escuchado y no oído.

ENGLISH

“For the cinnamon flower” invites us to explore the sexist and violent nature of songs spanning from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. Throughout this journey we will become aware of how often we sing songs that we have heard but rarely listened to.

ESPAÑOL

María Sánchez Testón (Cáceres, 09/01/1984) Estudió Comunicación Audiovisual en la UEx. Después se trasladó a Madrid donde cursó un master de realización en el IRTVE. Apasionada de la experimentación audiovisual, realizó dos cortometrajes “Autorretrato” y “Maleguas”. Con “Maleguas” consiguió una beca con la que se formó en la Escuela de cine de Cuba donde estudió dirección de Cine documental. En la Habana dirigió un cortometraje documental “La vida de la chispa”. Gracias a la concesión de la beca a la Creación joven del Gobierno de Extremadura en 2011 ha podido realizar el cortometraje documental “Por la flor de la canela”. Un documental que ha conseguido hasta la fecha numerosas selecciones, premios y menciones especiales en festivales de cine nacionales e internacionales y que ha sido seleccionado recientemente para su participación en la 28 Edición de Los Premios Goya 2014. En el mes de septiembre de 2012 finalizó su último proyecto: Encarna viva, su primer cortometraje de ficción y que se encuentra en fase de distribución y que ha conseguido sus primeras selecciones en reconocidos festivales de cine a nivel nacional e internacional. Recientemente acaba de recibir una de las 10 becas que ABC Guionistas concede para cursar el Master de Dirección y Producción de Cine Digital de la ULL 2013-2014 (Universidad de la Laguna- Sta. Cruz de Tenerife). En la actualidad se encuentra en fase de búsqueda de financiación para su próximo proyecto de ficción.

María Sánchez Testón (Cáceres, Spain 01/09/1984) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Studies from the University of Extremadura (Spain) and a Master in Direction/ TV Production from the IRTVE (Madrid, Spain). As a result of her enthusiasm in audiovisual experimentation, she directed two short-films entitled “Autoretrato” and “Maleguas”. Thanks to the later she was awarded a grant to the Cinema School in Cuba. There she enrolled a course on Documentary Direction and directed the documentary short-film “La vida de la chispa”. She has also been granted the 2011 Young Creation scholarship by the Regional Government of Extremadura (Sapin) to produce the documentary short-film “Por la flor de la canela”. Up to date, this documentary short film has earned several official selections, awards and special mentions in national and international film festivals, and has recently been selected for participating in the 28th edition of the Goya Awards 2014. In September 2013, she ended her last Project: Encarna Viva (Fresh Flesh), her first fiction short film, which is now being distributed and has earned its first selections in recognised national and international film festivals.
She has recently received one of the ten grants given by ABC Guionistas for taking the Master in Direction and Production of Digital Cinema from La Laguna University 2013-2014 (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain). Currently, she is searching for funding for her next fiction project.
